Turning the Tides: GC Gay Men Advocate for Autonomy
Gender critical gay men join the fight to defend homosexuals and women’s autonomy
The plea for society to listen to homosexual people and women is one that has echoed through the ages, yet remains unanswered.
I remember vividly what it was like to be under the spell of gender. Looking back, it’s almost as if I was actually asleep. Sedated. Both naively unable, and ignorantly unwilling, to see the truth.
Somehow, despite what may first look like unlimited acceptance and validation, an ugly underbelly festered just beneath the surface, hiding from public view and yet also out in plain sight.
Groupthink was imposed by this ideology; a new culture of purity had been formed. Language was filtered through thought controlling concepts such as the fact that we simply had to accept that someone may identify with a word that doesn’t describe their lived experience in the slightest. Men could be lesbians. Women could be gay men.
Up was down. Down was up. Women were men. Men were women. Straight people were gay. Gay people were straight.
My good friend, Donovan Cleckley, once compared these dynamics to a fun house and even made connections to Alice in Wonderland. These analogies are apt. It’s a rabbit hole that is easy to fall into.
The smoke and mirrors continue to reveal themselves the deeper that you delve. Repackaging a homophobic and sexist movement as a human rights movement is the perfect cover. It goes further by using the gay rights movement to shoehorn this harmful ideology into mainstream culture. Most people are afraid to question what is being framed as progress.
This is how transgenderism and it’s activists have successfully managed to dismiss homosexuals experiences and women’s concerns.
What are women’s concerns, exactly? Why, nothing more than the simple and quite justified request to access single-sex spaces and services designed for their sex class as females.
And all homosexuals want is to have our sexual orientation affirmed — not shamed, dissected and cast as bias. Or something to be fixed in a gender clinic.
Both groups autonomy are being eroded under the guise of inclusivity. Positioning this erosion of women’s and homosexuals rights as advancing other groups rights effectively shields it from all criticism. And the issues people face from the community are often ignored, swept under the rug and dismissed entirely.
The growing number of detransitioners means very little to trans activists. The women and their spaces being attacked, such as at spas or their rape shelters, are disregarded. The constant barrage of hateful and homophobic rhetoric and sexual pressure homosexual face is minimized to inter-community infighting.
This hasn’t stopped gay men and lesbians and from speaking out against the harms inflicted upon them. And the tides are beginning to turn in favor of those fighting for the autonomy of gays and women.
Lesbians stood by gay men during the AIDS crisis, even giving their blood, when no one else would. It’s our turn to stand by their side in the fight to defend homosexuality and single-sex spaces: yet, many gay men, along with most demographics, remain silent.
Not all gay men are ignoring the issues, though. This is something that should be highlighted because other homosexuals, lesbians and gay men alike, continue to ignore the issues facing homosexuals and women, often with a “Ally in the streets, TERF in the sheets” approach, by criticizing other homosexuals from the safety of a entirely monogamous same-sex relationship. Still, more and more gay men begin to wake up and take their place alongside their homosexual siblings in this fight for autonomy.
For autonomy absolutely is under attack. A core tenant of gender ideology posits that biological sex does not exist and that homosexuals whom reject transgender identified people of the opposite sex are influenced by a bigoted bias towards trans people. This perfectly demonstrates how erasing biological sex thereby erases same-sex attraction.
How could I have read so many words written by J.K. Rowling as a child and still not understood this when she said it just last year?
The attack on autonomy continues in the way trans activists demand society adhere to the dismantling of single-sex spaces. Women no longer own the word “woman” and even their apps aren’t safe from male invasion. Gender identity must absolutely take priority over biological sex and to deny this delusion is further bigotry. Trans rights seem to always supersede others rights. How dare women not recognize ‘transwomen’ as women enough to entirely ignore their biological status as male and invite them into every and all spaces they’ve fought to form?
We see it further in the way gay men have lost their spaces, and so have lesbians.
We all knew respecting pronouns was never going to be enough.
Which is why it’s more important than ever for gay men to understand what is at stake. The loss of single-sex spaces affects not only women but also homosexuals. These are spaces that we’ve historically used for dating, social interaction, and safety. Spaces that are infiltrated by people wearing our lived experience as a costume, encouraged by institutions to violate informed consent.
Queer theory and gender ideology further demand assimilation of homosexuals by insisting we must now blur the lines between the sexes, prioritize gender identity over sex, and date/sleep with the opposite sex to validate their identities. The autonomy we fought for is being stripped away and we’re made out to be paranoid bigots for daring to question. For daring to fight back.
Yet, we’ll continue to fight back. As we historically have never done, gay men will not back down.
