How Julie Bindel Has Emboldened Homophobia, TRA's...& the Alt Right
Homophobia from gender critics continues to grow, and this movement of hate is being led by homophobic actors pretending to be gay
I’ve rather enjoyed my time away from the gender conversation. So much so that I doubt I’ll ever return at any meaningful capacity. I left because I discovered that the gender critical and TERF movement was hosting people just as bigoted and hateful as the TRA movement. Imagine my complete lack of surprise then, when I did choose to return for a quick look around, only to discover the likes of Alexander Bramham advocating not only for abhorrent ideals like “political homosexuality” but also blatantly wearing a Proud Boys shirt while doing so.
Yeah, the gender critical and TERF movement are doing great.
Of course, like I mentioned, I’m not at all surprised. I’ve spoken to Alex before — he and his boyfriend have openly admitted to me they took their ideas of “political homosexuality” directly from radical feminism, and specifically Julie Bindel, who heavily propagates political lesbianism. Their ignorant understanding of what it means to be gay is one shared by an alarming amount of gender critics and radical feminists.
What is political homosexuality?
Directly from the political lesbian Wiki, it reads:
“Political lesbianism asserts that sexual orientation is a political and feminist choice, and advocates lesbianism as a positive alternative to heterosexuality for women as part of the struggle against sexism.”
There you have it. Political lesbianism asserts that sexual orientation is a choice. And Julie Bindel supports and promotes this ideal. In her own words:
“I love the idea I chose to be a lesbian”
Why is it homophobic?
You know. You know why it’s homophobic. However, if you somehow actually don’t, I’ll explain…even though this conversation was supposed to be over a decade ago.
It’s homophobic to suggest that homosexuality is a choice because all meaningful research we have into the phenomena, as well as testimony from homosexuals, makes it clear that it absolutely is not a choice. From the gay gene to the effects of gay conversion therapy. Research has shown that there is a gay gene, or rather, that being made gay is something that happens during development in-utero, as demonstrated in this study. Others fight against this idea because it means that being gay could eventually be “stopped” with eugenics. And yes, that’s a real threat, and one we can’t address if we don’t first acknowledge that being gay is natural, biological, and not a choice. Major organizations refuse to take a stance despite the evidence for political reasons. Wouldn’t want to upset the political lesbians, after all! Looking at the failure and literal torture that is gay conversion therapy, we can demonstrate even further how there is no choice when it comes to being gay.
Yet, Alex & Julie still cling to this ignorant approach to sexual orientation. Some part of me thinks they don’t actually believe it and instead are attempting to be controversial for the engagement. Another part of me knows the truth and understands that the invasion of gay spaces and culture is in full force, and actors like Alex & Julie are at the helm.
Some might question this pairing. What do a radfem and an alt right guy have in common? Well, they certainly share the ideology of political homosexuality. They both propagate the homophobic premise quite heavily. Further, both have proximity to the right, with Alex Bramham wearing Proud Boy shirts and declaring his allegiance to the right, and Julie Bindel proudly exclaiming she’s apart of “right wing feminism” and suggesting the next wave of feminism will be conservative. Alex openly admits he borrowed political homosexuality directly from radfems and even more directly right from Julie Bindel. What more do you want?
My first instinct is that she might be surprised to learn this. She and her cohorts definitely act surprised that they suggested that straight and bisexual women could identify their way into lesbianism, and that straight men took that further and suggested men could identify into womanhood. Oops, accidentally laid the foundation for straight men to take advantage of the identity politics I proposed…surprised Pikachu face! But…would she be surprised to learn that the far right, racists, and bigots of all kinds are repeating her mantras and propagating her ideology? No, she wouldn’t be, because that’s exactly her target audience.
Wrapping her conservatism in a feminist bow has been a successful endeavor for her, why should she stop?
I want to be clear about something. The word “gay” and “homosexual” mean something. There is no “wiggle room”. There is “compromise”. It is not a costume for bisexuals like Julie Bindel and Alexander Bramham to put on and use to speak over actual homosexuals. As two bisexuals who aren’t impacted by transism in the same ways homosexuals are, and in fact are often propagators of the ideology themselves, they have no skin in the game and would be much better off redirecting to homosexuals instead of flooding the conversation with their homophobic ideology.
Interesting, but I don't think you quite make yr case against JB (I hadn't heard of Bramham, I'm afraid). I dunno whether she is bisexual or not (and still less care) and yes, political-lebianism is pretty unattractive: I know somebody who (a-hem) 'practised' it out of some half-baked 1970s feminist position and her genuine lesbian lover was deeply hurt when the straight truth came out. Not good. JB has said some hard if justifiable things abt gay male misogyny. I just think gay rights is a coalition of partly differing interests including an overlap with women's politics. The resultant internal fights help keep the movement alive. Thanks for yr stuff!
